Tropicana Las Vegas Team Members are the most passionate people you will ever meet. Not only are we passionate about our careers, but we are also passionate about our community. Here's what we did in the last quarter of 2012 to bring smiles to those around us:
Three Square Canned Food Drive
We know that hunger is a problem for one in six families in Southern Nevada. That’s why we took a stand to fight against hunger! Our initial goal was to collect 5,000 cans of food to donate to Three Square food bank, which was a 2,000-can increase from last year. We launched a companywide challenge and that’s when we saw the real meaning of teamwork and passion! As each department continued to load in trucks of canned food, we knew we were going to exceed our 5,000-can goal. Thanks to the donations of all departments, especially Accounting, Table Games and Food and Beverage, we were able to collect a total of 18,669 cans, which equates to more than five tons of food!
Fill a Bag with Cheer
In order to provide gifts for children in need, we teamed up with the Las Vegas Hospitality Association to help students at the Manny Cortez Elementary School. Each department adopted numerous children who were able to open up clothes, books, toys, candy, and whatever else was on their wish list on Christmas. As a property, we were able to provide 76 bags of cheer!
United Blood Services
Approximately 4.5 million Americans need a blood transfusion each year and one in seven people will need a blood transfusion throughout their lifetime. That’s why we teamed up with United Blood Services to do our part! Thanks to our Team Members’ blood donations in the last quarter of 2012, we were able to save 63 lives! In 2012 as a whole, the blood donations of our Team Members made a difference in the lives of 204 people!
